Right now, this is an unanswered problem which is going to be answered in the years to come right in front of us, but for the curiosity as big cricketing fans we can't just stop thinking about it.
I have selected my squad for the current year and let's find out what they got in themselves.
 |
Angelo Mathews will be the seriously tested in the days to come |
01. Lahiru Thirimanne
02. Dilshan Munaweera / TM Dilshan
03. Dinesh Chandimal
04. Bhanuka Rajapaksa / Ashan Priyanjan
05. Kithruwan Withanage / Kusal Perera
06. Angelo Mathews
07. Angelo Perera / Thisara Perera
08. Tharindu Kaushal / Rangana Herath
09. Shaminda Eranga
10. Nuwan Pradeep / Suranga Lakmal / Lahiru Gamage
11. Lasith Malinga / Any Left Arm Fast Bowler
I think Thirimanne has the technique and the composure to be a great cricketer and with the modern cricket if he can open the batting it would uplift the batting of Sri Lankan cricket as well as his individual game.
 |
| Dilshan Munaweera should open for Sri Lanka |
TM Dilshan will doubt for 2019 world cup and should start to groom another opening model and I think Munaweera or even Kusal Perera can fit in there.
Chandimal deservedly can hold the no 3 spot for his class and previous success runs at the position with the hope of being the next idol in Sri Lankan cricket.
 |
| Dinesh Chandimal and Lahiru Thirimanne should lead Sri Lanka's top order |
With the immense runs at the first class circuit, Bhanuka Rajapaksa deserves a place in the Top XI and Ashan Priyanjan may well fit there as well.
Kithruwan Withanage is hailed as a top middle order player and will get the chance as I hope. Kusal Perera can hold this spot as well considering his adjustments to the game.
Unarguably Mathews is Lanka's no 6 and Angelo Perera, the talented Batting All-Rounder will provide a great balance to the Sri Lankan team contesting with the Sri Lanka's un-amazing superman Thisara Perera. Thisara Perera should work hard to retain his place, otherwise I believe Angelo Perera should be given a run.
 |
Angelo Perera should be given a
fair chance in the team |
 |
Thisara Perera should try
hard to keep his place |
In the conundrum of the spinners in the team, Sri Lanka should feed Tharindu Kaushal with enough International experience in order to create a new spinning idol for Sri Lanka. Rangana Herath is unsure of his retirement, but Tharindu Kaushal should be used more in international circuit.
 |
| Tharindu Kaushal should be given an extended run in the team |
Shaminda Eranga has been a good bowler and I think he should be given a chance in the team. He performs well when chances are given, so he deserves a place in the team.
 |
Nuwan Pradeep should be in the team because his pace and uniqueness |

And Sri Lanka can afford another fast bowler or a spinner in the team while Nuwan Pradeep, Suranga Lakmal, Lahiru Gamage, etc. will fight for the spot.
Lasith Malinga will play for Sri Lanka in the upcoming years. If he is unavailable, Sri Lanka should afford a left arm pace bowler or another unconventional bowler who can be unique from others to make the team special.
Will Sri Lanka do the probable changes? It is in the hands of the stubborn authorities of Sri Lanka Cricket. Make the changes and make a new team who can beat the best of the world.
 |
| Sri Lankan fans will be waiting to see the look of the new Sri Lankan cricket team |
