Mistakes By Sri Lanka

Nowadays, we often claim that the past 5-6 years were bad for Sri Lanka. There is a strong truth about that, but we must remind ourselves that Sri Lanka has never been a country which did the right thing every-time. My concerns goes to the humble beginning of our country where Queen Kuweni betrayed her own race and was fooled by a guy who was expelled from his own country. Certainly those are not things we really can be proud of, but there so many mistakes have been happened in the history of our country.

In reference to the history of Sri Lanka, it has rarely been ruled properly, in studies it certainly proves that old kings and rulers preferred their own personal beneficiaries over the development of the country and other aspects. There are so many stories which tells us about how the kings killed their fathers, brothers etc. , how they changed religions, how they sold out the nation to foreigners in order to rule the whole country.

But to mention, there has been some brave, visioned, caring rulers who worked so hard for the sake of the people. But history leaves us a big question mark about the attitude of the rulers in Sri Lanka.

When we  talk about the present background of Sri Lanka, there are huge concerns in many areas such as Education, Industries, Creativity, Literature, Science & Technology etc. In this article we would like to discuss those matters seriously.

Education

In 2007, 23 year old Mark Zuckerburg becomes the youngest Billionaire in the world in the success of his social network 'Facebook' which he founded in 2004. But in 2015, it is not even possible to think that such a thing would come out from Sri Lanka becaues of the Education System in Sri Lanka is quite slow and it doesn't extract such talents out of individuals. Mark Zuckerburg was 21 when is founded 'Facebook', but a normal student in Sri Lanka in early twenties would rather be in such a stressed mindset either doing ALs, or waiting for universities to begin, or thinking of a way to get some job. The 13 year education system is not accountable for job opportunities nowadays, it rather questions the so called education system in Sri Lanka. But the governments doesn't take actions and rather shows the world that the students' pass rate has gone up. What really has happened is the students' minds have grown up and intelligence levels have gone up, but the education system has not been adopted to the so called changes.

So what we try imply is that the education system of Sri Lanka must change. And we suggest that the time in School should be rather reduced. It seems that things that should be educated in universities are done in Advanced Level in Sri Lanka, so that there're lots of students who fails to complete Advance Level education. The university students should be extracted a year or two earlier and should make a graduate at least at the age of 22/23. This will also give students a clearer idea and time to choose their further life and would not risk so called minds of Sri Lankan students.

Literature

Literature has been a trending tragedy in Sri Lanka because in the recent past years the art and the creative thinking of Sri Lankans have been vanished and there has been really nothing to show as the literature in Sri Lanka. With the immense use of the electronic devices, Sri Lankans seem to have lost the imagination. The writing and poetry has become very poor and the film industry has faced some of the darkest times.

The government and the responsible parties should take serious actions to take out the creativity and art which seem to hidden in the so called Lankan artists. There is certainly the potential of a pure literature, but there has been no influence to take those out in the recent past.
